NFL PE’s: Week 1
One week down, seventeen to go. This is the first of many recaps you’ll be seeing after each week of NFL action, and we’ve got a lot to cover…

Larger views of each of these models are available after the jump.
NFL Preseason Week 2 Round-Up
A bunch of new NFL kicks hit the field this week… the highlights are the Nike cleats worn by the Steelers, Dre’ Bly’s Jordan III’s, the adidas cleats worn by Mario and Reggie, and a ton of new Super Bad II’s. There still hasn’t been anything notable from Reebok or Under Armour, but I’m hoping that they get their act together once the regular season starts. On to the pics…

Hines Ward has been wearing these Nike Throw Back TD PE’s for the past two weeks (and yes, I realize that this photo is from Week 1, but there weren’t any good shots of these from Week 2). As Michael Korczynski pointed out, the colorblocking in these is similar to the pair what Hines wore a few times last season… until recently, they were just about impossible to identify. Good work, Korch.
Randy Moss Pony-less Again; Other NFL PE’s
After starting training camp in Nike cleats, Randy Moss wore his new Pony signature model for several weeks. But when the Patriots kicked off their preseason schedule last night, here’s what we saw:

Those aren’t Pony’s. That’s a spatted-up Jordan VI PE on a Super Bad II TD midsole/outsole. Moss flip-flopped between Nike and Reebok throughout last season, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens this year now that he actually has a signature shoe… keep an eye on this for sure. More NFL kicks after the jump.
Owens and Harris Jordan III’s, Other NFL Training Camp Cleats
The new cleats keep rolling in… and if you’re wondering why these NFL PE recaps have been nearly all Nike-based, it’s only because the other brands haven’t really been doing many custom kicks (yet, at least). Here’s the best from the past few days…

Terrell Owens and Chris Harris are the latest to get Jordan III PE’s. While TO’s look decent and are pretty consistent with the style of the other Jordan models that he’s worn over the past few years, I wish these were hooked up a little more. Chris Harris’ III’s, on the other hand, are a really nice blend of the GR model and PE colors.

No Pony’s for Moss; Other NFL Kicks
Not too many custom cleats can be expected from the first week of training camp, but here’s the best of them:

Tom Brady broke out a new pair of Super Bads with a turf midsole and a Shark cleat pattern (similar to the midsole/outsole that he’s worn the past few years), but the really interesting thing in this photo is the absence of Randy Moss’ Pony signature cleats. Moss wore those Super Bad I’s, a Reebok model, and Super Bad II’s last year, but after all the hype about him signing with Pony, I’m surprised that he didn’t break out the new PE’s at camp (and I can’t imagine the folks at Pony are too happy). Thanks to Greg Riffenburgh for the photo.
