Some technical issues on the site pushed my player exclusive recap schedule back a day, but here are the PE cleats worn by the Atlanta Braves (all of which are can be seen in the PE Gallery):

Unless I missed any (and please let me know if I did), it seems that the only PE’s being worn this year in Atlanta are Nike models. With a couple prominent Mizuno players (Chipper Jones, Brian McCann) and a few Under Armour guys (Jeff Francoeur, Tim Hudson, Rafael Soriano) on the roster, it’s surprising that the other brands aren’t hooking their guys up. The PE renderings above are the models worn by Mark Teixeira (now in Anaheim but still included), Yunel Escobar, Mark Kotsay, and Casey Kotchman.

Mark Teixeira: Teixeira has been all 5-Tool throughout his stint in Atlanta, and he wore the two models pictured above in 2008. He mostly wore the model on the right, but the black / white / red model from the photo on the left (which is nearly identical to one of Orlando Hudson’s PE’s) made a few appearances in his last few weeks with the Braves. He’s continued wearing the red-heavy pair in Anaheim, and I’m hoping he brought the other pair with him as well… they’re both great looking cleats.

Yunel Escobar: Escobar has mostly worn black/red 2K4’s this season, but he wore these 5-Tools for a decent stretch in May and June. Aside from the red swoosh, these are very similar to the GR model.

Mark Kotsay: After a bunch of nice white PE’s in Oakland, Kotsay moved over to the AL in ‘08 and got himself the Huarache 2K5 PE’s shown above. There haven’t been too many 2K5 player exclusives with white tongues, but this one looks great… it’s one of the more unique 2K5’s from the past few years.

Casey Kotchman: The photo above is from Casey’s days with the Angels (good photos of Kotchman in Atlanta aren’t available yet), but he’s been wearing this Nike Fuse model with a Huarache midsole with the Braves as well. As I noted in a previous post, Torii Hunter also wore an identical model earlier in the season, so there’s a chance that Kotchman has been borrowing these from Hunter all year. There does seem to be a small bit of embroidery under the swoosh (you can’t even make it out in the above photo), so be on the lookout for close-up shots of these… it looks like it’s a number, and I’m curious to see if it’s 22 (his current number), 35 (his Angels number), or 48 (Hunter’s number).
That’s it for the Braves… let me know if I missed anything. The Baltimore Orioles are up tomorrow, and as I mentioned earlier, all of the renderings from this post are available in the Player Exclusive Gallery.
