For the next thirty days, I’ll be doing first-half recaps of the PE cleats (and some footwear oddities) worn by all thirty Major League teams. These recaps will go in alphabetical order by team, so the Arizona Diamondbacks are the team of the day…

The renderings above are the models that have been worn by Orlando Hudson (Nike 5-Tools), Mark Reynolds (Nike Fuse), Justin Upton (adidas Diamond King), and Brandon Webb (Reebok Vero FL II). Larger views can be seen in the brand new Player Exclusive Gallery… I’ll be adding cleats from the other 29 teams throughout the month (and basketball and football galleries will follow). More info on these Diamondbacks models after the jump…

Orlando Hudson: Even though Hudson isn’t one of the game’s biggest superstars, he’s apparently got the skills and the flash that merit a very decent Nike contract. The 5-Tool is one of the top cleats of 2008, and he’s somehow managed to get four different PE’s of them — and he broke each one out before the start of July. He also wore the Swingman Remix for a few games earlier in the year (pictured in this post)… I’ll be adding those to the PE Gallery soon.

Mark Reynolds: Reynolds only wore these for a short stretch in 2007, but they looked great. However, as with the majority of the Fuse PE’s around the league this year, these can actually be accurately reproduced on NikeID (exceptions include Wright, Manny, and anyone with colored outsoles). Reynolds has mostly worn red-accented Huarache 2K4’s since he stopped wearing these.

Justin Upton: This one is so close to the GR model that I hate to even call it a PE… the only customized parts on this adidas Diamond King model are the red heel shank and a red cleat plate.

Brandon Webb: Webb’s Vero M5’s are one of the nicer Reebok custom jobs… the red midsole accents really set them off. Don’t be surprised if Webb starts wearing the Vero FL III soon.
Finally, the strange one…

Randy Johnson: If I could find a product image of this 90s Air Show model, I’d do a rendering of the Big Unit’s PE’s as well. If you have any old Nike catalogs lying around, let me know.
That’s it for the D-Backs… if I forgot anyone, please leave it in the comments. Tomorrow’s team will be the Atlanta Braves…

rbkguy posted this comment on Aug 03 08 at 12:11 amGreat job mark, probably tough to do on photoshop but all the big league reebok shoes are nubuck, or suede leather. don’t know if photoshop has a feature like that.
rbkguy posted this comment on Aug 03 08 at 12:51 amIt’s interesting though that webb uses a cleat with the m5 cleat pattern. Most of the vero II PE’s ive seen are of the vero fl II M. From wearing reeboks i know that the M6’s are really heavy and the sole feels really tall. The M5 is lighter but there is some ridges under the ball of you foot that isnt very comfortable. That must be why they tend to use the plain M model. Weird how their cheapest cleat is the most PE’ed. Although i saw Wakefield using the stock model which runs like 45 bucks. i have a lot of reebok info for people looking for it. Just know that reeboks arent the most popular cleats on here. thanks again mark for your work. I love it.
Mark posted this comment on Aug 03 08 at 12:00 pmHaha… thanks rbkguy. While there’s no “nubuck” feature in Photoshop, I’ll work on making my Vero’s look more nubuck-ish.

o-dog’s black 5-tool with the white tongue isn’t in the pe gallery
rbkguy posted this comment on Aug 05 08 at 11:41 pmThanks mark. I’ll probably pick apart most of the Reebok stuff you put on here. I’m probably the only one who notices or cares.
Dan posted this comment on Aug 17 08 at 11:32 amMark are you going to do the renderings of Orlando Hudson’s Swingman PE’s and also why aren’t any of the Cubbies all star cleats up in the PE gallery
Great Work BTW I love this site
